    P990i firmware update

I need to update the firmware on my P990i. I will obviously try with SEUS, but stating at what I read on this forum, the procedure is not failsafe.

Should SEUS brick my phone I would like to try to recover and flash it again with another program. Which one should I use? From what I read the unique choice is SETool, but it is not clear if it is free or needs additional hardware to work!

    Thanks!

My Advice Would Be To Use SEUS. As A Precaution, You May Backup Your GDFS Before You Do Anything. However You May Use XS++ Which Is Also Very Safe.

So, at this point 2 more questions.

    1) What is a "box"? O.K., I can imagine *what* it is  but which programs do require this hardware and, I suppose, access to a remote server?

    2) XS++ and SETool (2 Lite). What are the differences?

    1. A box it's a special cable and it's working whit high voltage, more than a dcu-60 cable. You can write a total firmware, more than fs and main, whit a setool box.
    2. The diferences is whit xs++ you can connect smrtphones, is an advanced program, and whit SETool i yhink you can only connect normal SE phones. Hope you help this...sorry for my bad english...

It seems that XS++ only understands ZIP files (at least when flashing smartphones). I downloaded a firmware for my P990i, but it is a RAR! Should I convert it to ZIP or extract it somewhere or what?

There is nothing about smartphone flashing in XS++ guide!

    Thanks!

yes, you must convert it , but not just change the extension you need to make a zip file , whit all the files found in the .RAR archive

Just unpack everything from the RAR and then Pack all that stuff to a .zip
